Rajasthan Australian Association to take up community issues

MELBOURNE, 19 August: A large number of people from Rajasthan, India who have migrated here have joined to set up the Association of Australian Rajasthanis’ to promote economic and social development among migrants from Rajasthan and India. It has decided to focus on providing network and support in areas of education, entrepreneurship & social welfare. Jitendra Sharma has been elected President and Dr. Virendra Khatana as Secretary.

The Association currently has 65 members across Australia and is growing each day. A virtual meet was organized to celebrate India’s 74th Independence Day on 15th August.

In the get together discussed the purpose of the group and what has been achieved so far and what is to be achieved in the next 3 months. Councillor Intaj Khan and fellow Rajasthani was the chief guest and he shared his roots and life journey with the group inspiring them to achieve success. He encouraged members to be entrepreneurs and seek his and his networks help where ever we need.

The president and core committee of the association also encouraged members to use this group as their first point of contact where ever specialist support,i.e., taxation, law, visa, education mentoring and community issues is required. The association recently encouraged children to paint the Indian national flag and sing the national anthem.

Once the COVID situation is over the association plans to organize a big feast for its members. The association is already collaborating with similar associations overseas to network with Rajasthani’s across the world and is part of the Pravasi Rajasthani group which is an initiative by the Ashok Gehlot govt to bring NRI Rajasthani’s together.
