MELBOURNE, 7 September 2020: Victoria’s roadmap to exiting the pandemic has been called ‘hard and crushing’ by Prime Minister Scott Morrison. He has also decided to halt funding Victoria, till it does it itself.

Reacting to this on a question by South Asia Times, James Merlino, Deputy Premier says, ” We have taken very difficult decisions and want to reopen the state as soon as possible. The economy will not reopen until we curb the virus.

Hurry to reopen can lead to a third wave. So, we cannot put the community at risk.”

The Deputy Premier was interacting with the multicultural media in a zoom press conference today with Multicultural Minister Ros Spence.

Talking about Victoria’s modeling for the exit plan, Marlino says, “the data inputs used are Victoria specific along with various scenarios. There is no pick and choose. The aim is to push down case numbers to a manageable level.

It’s better to be steady and safe.”
