MELBOURNE: Pakistani 2019 romantic drama traces the decline of a leading Lollywood actress (Meera as Shameera) and her efforts to revive herself. The theme is interesting but Baaji (means elder sister in Urdu) made in the commercial setup looks more like a Bollywood potboiler. Shameera has a new secretary Neha (Amna Ilyas) who calls her Baaji trying to push up the fading actress. An American Pakistani comes in with a comeback movie plan and a tale of romance ensues. Director Saqib Malik uses all tricks of the trade to make the movie click with many twists. The last half hour quickie events make the movie like a story fast forward. So, there is a tragedy and then relief. Actor Nayyer Ejaz’s comical episodes are a big relief. I give the movie 2 out of 5 stars.
