Priyanka Radhakrishnan is New Zealand’s first Indian-origin Minister

MELBOURNE, 2 November 2020: New Zealand has it’s first Indian-origin Minister Priyanka Radhakrishnan. On Monday (2 Nov) Priyanka, 41 was sworn in as the Minister for Diversity, Inclusion, and Ethnic Communities. She will also hold the Community and Voluntary Sector as Associate Minister for Social Development and Employment.

A PTI report says she was the first elected as a Labour Party MP in 2017 and in 2019, she was appointed the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for Ethnic Communities.

Priyanka is India-born, went to school in Singapore, and came to New Zealand for further studies. Priyanka is a native of Paravur, Ernakulam. She lives with her husband in Auckland.
