Melb.: Injured Andhra student improving, shifted out of ICU

Melbourne: Sravan Kumar Theerthala, 25, from Andhra Pradesh, an Indian overseas student who was injured after being attacked in his home here, is showing signs of improvement. Earlier, he was in a coma and later his life support was withdrawan. According to Gautam Gupta, leader and founder of Federation of Indian Students of Australia (FISA), Sravan has now been shifted to the High Dependency Unit of the hospital from the ICU. Gautam Gupta was talking to South Asia Times via phone from the hospital after he and a few other FISA activists visited him in the evening today. Sravan is admitted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

  1. I hope he recovers well.These attacks clearly are deplorable and it seems that the australian authorities seems to downplay the racial element of the attacks. We want actions from the police and not theories, statements or peace walks. A local policing has become a major international issue harming the reputation of australia.
