Cops hunt for bail jumper Puneet

Melbourne: Nineteen years old Puneet Puneet, is believed to have fled to India after breaking his bail conditions. The learner driver had a blood alcohol reading of 0.165 when he hit and killed a 19-year-old Queensland student, Dean Hofstee, at Southbank in October, reports ABC.

The report further says: “ He pleaded guilty to culpable driving but failed to appear in court yesterday. The County Court heard that Puneet had not reported for bail since June this year. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.”
Inspector Richard Watkins of the Major Collisions Unit says it is disappointing Puneet was able to leave the country. Police believe Mr Puneet left Australia on the passport of fellow Indian student Sukhcharanjit Singh, on a flight to New Delhi on June 12, three hours after reporting for bail.
