Indian real estate company owner stabbed to death

Melbourne: The Indian community is in shock after the brutal and suspicious stabbing to death of a prominent Indian real estate company owner. The 61-year-old man whose body was found under an overpass next to parkland had suffered stab wounds. The identity of the victim has been withheld on the request of his family.

Emergency services were called to underneath a bridge on the Eastern Freeway, near Estelle Street, shortly after 10.15am. on Sunday (5 June).

The police head of homicide, Bernie Edwards, said the father of two, from Doncaster, had been found next to parkland in the Koonung Creek reserve, near Estelle Street, Bulleen, about 10.50am.

The detective said that the man lived on the other side of the bridge, which
crosses the Eastern Freeway.

“We are still investigating how he got to the bottom of the bridge,” he
said.

Blood has been found on the bridge, and police and SES volunteers are
scouring nearby parkland for any signs of a knife or sharp-edged weapon.

He said the injuries to the man might have occurred somewhere away from the
scene, he said.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
