Melbourne: Another teenager has been charged of murdering Indian student Nitin Garg in West Footscray on January 2 this year. Homicide squad detectives have taken into custody a 16-year-old boy from Yarraville over the fatal stabbing.Police say he had been charged with accessory to murder and has been bailed to appear at a Children’s Court at a date to be decided later.
Earlier, yesterday cops had arrested a 15 year old teenager in connection with the with the same case.
Homicide Squad detectives arrested the 15-year-old male in Yarraville at about 9am.He faced the Children’s court yesterday and has been charged with one count of murder. he will appear in court in October.
Nitin Garg’s death sparked an outcry from Indian community groups, who claimed that Indians were being deliberately targeted by violent racists.The issue strained diplomatic relations between Australia and India, with the Indian government even issuing a travel advisory encouraging Indian students to take precautions if they planned to live in Victoria.
