Melbourne: An Indian overseas student (name withheld) tried to take his own life by jumping in front of a running train in the Western suburbs. The incident took place on the early morning of 4th December, 2010 at the St. Albans metro station. The station comes under the jurisdiction of the Sunshine Police Station. The student was later admitted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he is being treated.
The student, from Ludhiana, Punjab had finished his course in Melbourne from an unnamed college and his application for Permanent Residency (PR) was rejected by the Immigration Department about six months back.
The ex-student has been speaking a bit from his hospital bed, a reliable source told the South Asia Times.
