Perth, Western Australia: Two men, both Indian migrants in Perth aged in their 30s, died Tuesday (28th Dec., 2010) afternoon despite efforts to rescue them after they were swept away into deep water off Penguin Island. The victims were crossing with a few others a popular marine park to the mainland Penguin Island. Both the victims were married with children.
Their wives and two other companions who had attempted the crossing with them were rescued and taken to hospitals in nearby Rockingham and Fremantle, local media says. They had been picnicking on the island with their children and other family members who had returned to the mainland by ferry.
