Melbourne, 3 October: Seniors are going to have many fun-filled days with a Victorian Seniors Festival kicking off this Sunday 5 October at the Federation Square, marking the start of a month of jam-packed activities and events for you to enjoy.
With over 1,500 free or low cost events across the state, the festival is a great opportunity to get out, have a good time and try out new things, starting with Celebration Day this Sunday 5 October at Federation Square from 10:30am to 4:00pm.
During Festival week you can drop into the free RDNS Melbourne Festival Hub at Melbourne Town Hall, open daily 10:00am to 4:30pm from Monday 6 – Friday 10 October. Or why not enjoy free concerts on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 October, at Federation Square’s Deakin Edge, presented by Lifeview Residential Care?
COUNTRY CONCERTS
There’s also the State Trustees Country Concert Series at 23 fabulous locations across Victoria, featuring some of our best loved performers including Jade Hurley, Wendy Stapleton, Colleen Hewitt and Grace Knight.

SENIORS COUNT
The Victorian Government launched Seniors Count! –the Seniors Participation Action Plan, along with $5 million in new funding to better support seniors and create more age-friendly communities.
Over the next five years the funding will focus on key areas to address the digital divide of seniors not connected to the internet, support the mature-age workforce, improve understanding of health and ageing, create more age-friendly communities, and promote life planning for seniors.
With people now living longer and more active lives, the plan heralds a major shift in how we think about ageing and sets a new direction for ageing in Victoria.
BUSINESS DISCOUNTS
In 2015 the Seniors Card program will be extended to offer business discounts to seniors who are working 35 hours or more per week, providing access to a great range of discounts on goods and services from businesses across Victoria.
As a Seniors Card holder you are already able to access these benefits, but you may have friends or family members that will be eligible for the new Seniors Business Discount Card from 2015.
