Australia to return stolen Indian Buddha

Melbourne: Australia’s National Gallery of Art has decided to return to India a Buddha statue of Kushan period dating second century, after it was found the statue was stolen from an archaeological site in Uttar Pradesh.

The statue was bought by the NGA in 2007 using funds from art benefactor Roslyn Packer, reports the Guardian Australia.

Earlier, Australia had returned to India to India a 900 year-old bronze dancing Shiva and another stone carving.
