By Shobhit Nanda, Melbourne: Gurinder Sandhu who plays cricket for Sydney Thunder in Australia’s big bash league has made his debut in Australia’s first ODI match against India in the Carlton Mid ODI tri-series at the MCG. Sandhu is one of the first cricketers of Indian orgin to play for Australia. Usman Khawaja and Fawad Ahmed of Pakistani origin have already broken into the Australian team although they are not part of the current Australian squad.
Sandhu got the call up as Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Marsh recover from injury and battle to regain fitness ahead of the world cup starting in less than 4 weeks time. Sandhu has been picked for the first two games of the tri-series also featuring England due to his excellent death bowling in the Big Bash League for Sydney thunder. Sandhu has not been picked for the world cup but will remain a contender incase there is injury to one of the Australian premier fast bowlers.
