New Delhi, 14 May : The ‘Azhar’ team coming close to its release, actor Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin along with films’director Tony D’Souza visited Delhi for the final leg of its promotions.
In the time of biopics and documentaries, Balaji Motion Pictures is reintroducing, the once a cricket sensation Mohammad Azharuddin’s story with the film ‘Azhar’ directed by Tony D’Souza.
The stars offered chadar at Nizamuddin’s Dargah and to pray for the success of their film.
Emraan Hashmi who has done films based on cricket before said he took up the offer of this film without reading the script.
When asked about his preparation for the film, the serial kisser said “There has been certain shots for which I had to struggle a lot but Azhar bhai was so helpful that most of the time he come down to train me with the technicalities”
The 1986 Arjuna award winner, Mohammad Azharudding got trapped into the match-fixing scandal in the year 200 and was banned by BCCI for life. The ban later was lifted by Andhra Pradesh High Court. When asked about his banner having the names of those two cricketers he is not in good terms with, he said “I have a good relation with everyone. If someone else has a problem, then I am ready to solve and talk about it.“
He even called Navjot Singh Sidhu as his elder brother.
The film also stars Prachi Desai essaying the role of Naureen, Azhar’s first wife where his second wife is portrayed by Nargis Fakhri.
Prachi Desai when asked about her comfort level with Emraan Hashmi said “Our chemistry is undeniably very good. No wonder why we have been paired so late. We should have been paired together way too early”
The film released on May 13 in Australia and worldwide.
