Melbourne, 13 April: The 2017 Emerging Writers Festival is coming to Dandenong and Council is on the
lookout for local poets and spoken word artists to perform their work at a special
Festival event taking place at Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre in June.
The Emerging Writers’ Festival is Australia’s premier festival for new and emerging
writers, giving new Australian writers unique opportunities for professional
development and to perform or publish their work.
“This is a great opportunity for our talented local artists and performers to have their
work included as part of the diverse range of workshops, performances and
discussions that are happening across Melbourne during the Festival,” said Greater
Dandenong Mayor, Cr Jim Memeti.
“The City of Greater Dandenong is a proud supporter of our local arts community
and we’re excited to give our own creative voices the chance to be represented
alongside some of the best emerging storytellers in Australia,” Cr Memeti said.
Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre’s Emerging Writers’ Festival performance
showcase will take place on Saturday 17 June from 6.30-7.30pm.
