Pakistan epicentre Of terror, Islamabad must take Credible steps: Pranab

NEW DELHI: External Affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday buried UPA government’s reality-challenged position of moral parity between
India and Pakistan as victims of terror when he told the Lok Sabha that the neighbour was the epicentre of cross-border terror.

“The epicentre of not just this (Mumbai) attack, but a series of attacks prior to this is located in the neighbouring country,” the minister said and asked Islamabad to take “credible” steps against terror infrastructure and terror handlers.

In a powerful speech in the Lok Sabha, Mr Mukherjee said there was a method in the attacks on Jaipur, Ahmedabad,
Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai as these were aimed at assaulting India’s capabilities. To drive home the point that India can no longer take Pakistan at face value, Mr Mukherjee recalled a conversation between Indira Gandhi and Margaret Thatcher. “I was an eye witness.
