Melbourne: On the eve of his visit to India Victorian Premier John Brumby today visited the Blackburn Gurudwara (Sikh Temple) and announced a grant of $ 50,000 Victorian Government funding to the Victorian Sikh Association (VSA) to undertake a range of community programs including the refurbishment of the Blackburn Sikh temple.
Officially opening the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Academy in Blackburn before departing for India tomorrow, Mr. Brumby said the funding would go towards restoring and maintaining the Sikh temple, to deliver program to teachers of new migrants, international students and senior citizens.
Mr. Brumby and his group were taken around the temple. The Sikh community also donated $ 15,000 to the Kinglake fire victim’s fund.

Mr. Ted Baillieu has also visited Blackburn Gurudwara.
