India’s Chandrayaan-1 (mission to Moon) launched recently from Sriharikota, India, has sent the picture (see left) of Earth taken by the Terrain Mapping camera (TMC) on board the Chandrayaan-1 on Oct. 29, 2008 through a series of commands issued from the Spacecraft Control Centre of ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) at Bangalore. Chandrayaan-1 will soon reach the moon and start orbiting it. The imagery (image above) taken at at 12:30 pm from a height of 70,000 km shows Australia’s Southern Coast.
The photo has been released by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on its web site www.isro.gov.in.
