Couple nabbed in Griffith murder

NSW, 28 Jan.2010: A 23-year-old man and his 20-year-old wife (both Indians) have been arrested by police in connection with the murder of an Indian national Ranjodh Singh whose partially burnt body was found dumped on the side of a road near Griffith, in the State’s Riverina district, last December.

Detectives from Griffith Local Area Command and the State Crime Command Homicide Squad arrested the man at his workplace in Sans Souci while the woman was arrested at a home in Sans Souci, shortly after 11am today.

Immigration Department officials assisted during today’s police operation and interviewed a number of occupants at the Sans Souci home.

The husband and wife have been taken to Kogarah Police Station where they will be interviewed and expected to be charged with murder later today.

The body of 25-year-old Indian national, Ranjodh Singh, was found by a passer-by on Wilga Road, Willbriggie on December 29.
Investigations have revealed Mr Singh was still alive at the time he was set alight by his assailants.
