FORMER Australian Medical Association president Dr Mukesh Haikerwal suffered
serious head injuries after an alleged assault.
Dr Haikerwal suffered serious injuries after he was allegedly bashed on
Lyons Rd in Williamstown about 11pm on Saturday night.(27 Sept.)
Police are investigating the assault which they believe stemmed from an
armed robbery but have been unable to interview Dr Haikerwal because of the
extent of his injuries.
Dr Haikerwal was taken to the Western Hospital in Footscray with serious
injuries.
AMA Victoria president Doug Travers said Dr Haikerwal had undergone
neurosurgery at the hospital to remove blood clots from his brain and was
put in an induced coma.
