New Delhi: Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi on Thursday (4 June) took up the issue of attacks on Indians in Australia with the Australian High Commissioner, reports CNN-IBN.
The report further says: “Vayalar Ravi met Australian High Commissioner John McCarthy in New Delhi and urged him to ensure the safety of Indian students studying in Australia. While McCarthy admitted that there was an element of racism involved in the attack on Indians, most of the attacks were primarily criminal in nature. He assured Ravi that measures are being taken to ensure the safety of Indian students.”

this is the problem…the racial element is not taken seriously
Let’s say, for a moment, that I am the police chief and prime minister of Australia and I declare that every crime in Melbourne is racist in nature. HOW DOES THAT HELP YOU? There **IS** a fundamental underlying aspect, in my opinion, to the attacks on Indians here, but it isn’t as simple as racism in nature.
