Painter Tyeb Mehta, 84 died at his residence in Mumbai on 2 July. He was suffering from heart trouble. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter. One of his painting sold for Rs. 3.1 crore in 2005. Last year his painting ‘Figure on a Rickshaw’ (1984) sold at the Christie’s auction for $ 1,918,926 (Rs.8.2 crore), reports Hindustan Times.
