INDIA’s NUCLEAR DETERRENCE (NO – FIRST – USE) IN ACTION : The 17 meter Agni-5 ICBM launched successfully by India from Wheeler island (Chandipur), Orissa on 19th April 2012.The three-stage, 17-metre tall Agni-V, weighing 50 tonnes, is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead of 1.1 tonnes. This missile can go up to 5000 km and can hit any country in the world except the US. India joins the U.S., Russia, France and China, which have ICBM capability. With India’s policy of no-first-use of nuclear weapons, Agni-V will provide the country with depth in deterrence. How much did it cost is not known?
