AI-enabled Robot dogs to lead NGV’s Triennial 2023

MELBOURNE, 5 April 2023: The magic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled Robot dogs ,is all set to lead  this year’s National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) Triennial 2023. Leading artists, designers and collectives from across the globe will be showcasing contemporary art, design and architecture that will mystify the contemporary art scene.

Spread into three segments –  Magic, Memory and Matter,  The NGV Triennial 2023 will cover the works of 100 contributors including 75 extraordinary projects. One of the project is street photography from 10 global megacities.

The Robot dogs, a project of Polish-born, US-based artist Agnieszka Pilat, will see Robot dogs take the brush and paint . These Boston Dynamics AI trained Robot dogs will autonomously, becoming the artists and painting  both individual and collaborative works during the exhibition. A blend of technological innovation and existing art. Today, at the NGV’s Triennial 2023 launch, Agnieszka’s AI creations created sensation while moving around.

Agnieszka Pilat lives and works in New York city and in San Francisco and as a as a self-proclaimed machine chaser, she commutes between East and West coasts in pursuit of emergent technologies. Pilat, is currently a guest artist at the Agility Robotics and at SpaceX. She said said a few words to South Asia Times (SAT) during today’s launch.

The media and others gathered today at the NGV’s Triennial 2023 launch was addressed by Victoria’s Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events/Minister for Creative Industries Steve Dimopoulos, the Director of the NGV and Janet Whiting, President of the Committee of Trustees NGV.

The Megacities section of the exhibition will have street photographs from cities whose population exceeds 10 million: Cairo, Jakarta, Dhaka, Delhi, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, Seoul, Lagos, Tokyo and Mexico City.
