AII celebrates year end with the power of enduring ties with India

MELBOURNE, 9 December 2022: A year end evening at the the Australia India Institute (AII) , University of Melbourne, with the cream of Indian academia, business, intellectuals and emerging politicians present, one cannot but feel elated. With the fastest growing community in Australia and the biggest in Victoria, issues related to Indians and India are often subjects of different events at the AII.

Addressing the august gathering, Lisa Singh, CEO AII said the institute pushed for better Australia-India relations through dialogue, events, research and policy advocacy. She revealed that in 2022, nine Indian Ministers had visited Australia and four were hosted by the AII.

At the year end celebration Indian Consul General Sushil Kumar was among those present. Former Victoria Premier Ted Baillieu, also addressed the gathering and expressed his astonishment at the 90,000 crowd during the recent India-Pakistan T20 cricket match at the MCG.
