Antony Albanese sworn-in as Australia’s 31st PM

MELBOURNE, 23 May 2022: Labor leader Antony Albanese was today sworn in as Australia’s 31st Prime mInister by Australia’s Governor-General in Canberra. Others sworn in were Richard Marles – Dy PM, Penny Wong Foreign Minister, Jim Chalmers Treasurer & Katy Gallagher AG+. The swearing-in started at 9 am and was soon over with the new PM and the four others taking the oath. Penny Wong is the first Australian Foreign Minister born overseas.

PM Antony Albanese and Penny Wong will fly off to Tokyo today to attend the Quad meeting along with US President Joe Biden, Indian PmM N. Modi, and Japan’s Fumio Kishida.

Meanwhile, the Labor party is inching toward a majority in the House of representatives. The current tally, according to the ABC, is Target- 76, L/NP 52, ALP 72, Others 15 & in doubt 12.
