MELBOURNE, 21 May 2022: Labor’s Antony Albanese is all set to form the next government in Canberra. The government could be with the support of cross benches, including the Greens. Prime Minister Scott Morrison conceded defeat with leads in 55 seats (Liberals and Nationals), Labor around with 72 leads, and 11 others including 2 or 3 Greens at 11.45 pm AEST. Whether Labor reaches the magic number of 76 seats to get a majority of their own remains to be seen.

In his victory speech to the Labor faithful, Antony Albanese said, “Australians have voted for change. I want an economy that works for the people, not the other way around. We will protect Medicare and fix the crisis in aged care.

“We will set up an anti-corruption panel,” he said.

He added,” Will start working on Monday and gear up for attending the Quad meeting in Tokyo soon”, he said.
