NEW DELHI: The Asia Society’s, Asia Society Policy Institute office in New Delhi, a branch of the Asia Society India Center, established in 2006 and headquartered in Mumbai, recently (August 29, 2022) launched by India’s Minister of External Affairs Dr.S. Jaishankar. Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was present on the occasion.

Dr. Jaishankar concluded his launch address by saying, ” As the most dynamic region beyond the West, its successes can inspire the rest of the Global South. Indeed, it is leading the process of global rebalancing through its endeavors. For this to have the widest impact, India espouses a cooperative, inclusive and consultative approach to international relations. We believe that multipolarity, rebalancing, fairer globalization and reformed multilateralism are all advanced by the progress of Asia. Our diplomacy is accordingly shaped by this belief.”

Dr. C. Raja Mohan, one of India’s foremost strategic thinkers, will lead the Asia Society Policy Institute’s work in New Delhi as a Senior Fellow, leveraging Asia Society’s global presence to promote an increased awareness of India’s strategic priorities and decision-making.

Asia Society President and CEO Kevin Rudd said, “We are increasing our presence in India at a time when understanding its foreign policy has never been more important, and we are pleased to welcome Raja Mohan, a leading strategic thinker, to lead our policy work in New Delhi.”

The Asia Society moves are undertaken in concert with Asia Society’s newly launched Spotlight on India initiative running from July 2022 through June 2023, as India celebrated 75 years of independence and assumes the G-20 presidency for the first time. A wide range of events in India and across the world, including our first ever exhibition in the visual arts in India spotlighting Asia Arts Game Changer Vanguard Awardees in partnership with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in New Delhi, Asia Society’s ongoing partnership with the Jaipur Literary Festival in September will be held throughout the year, focusing on geopolitics, business, arts, and culture.
