Bill Shorten praises S. Asians as great Australians

MELBOURNE, 20 May 2022: Labor leader and Shadow Minister NFIS & Government Services Bill Shorten today widened his political reach to Australia’s South Asian community by saying they were great Australians, who stood by their values systems. He was making a final pitch in his election campaign while addressing a large number of South Asians and others present at a multicultural fundraising dinner at the Ultima Function Centre, Keilor Park for his election in the Maribyrnong Federal seat.

In his candid speech, Mr. Shorten also said Labor will give more attention than the Coalition to the free trade agreement between Australia and Inda. He focused on the early return of international students from South Asia.

The event was organized by Dr. Naveed Mughal, Praveen Kumar, Hassan Shah, and Chaman Preet. Addressing those present by Mr. Praveen Kumar called upon those present to support and vote for Labor and Mr. Shorten on 21 May 2022. The gathering was also addressed by Natalie Hutchins, Minister for Corrections, Crime Prevention, Youth Justice, and Victim Support among others. The program also had cultural items including Bollywood dances and drumming by Eshan Lakhani.

The event was a big success with massive participation from the Indian, Pakistani, and Nepalese communities. While it was an election program with funds being raised, it also was great networking taking place among subcontinent communities laced with tasty Indian dinner.
