BPC suspends seven builders convicted of indictable offences

MELBOURNE, July 13, 2026: The Building Practitioners Commission (BPC) has immediately suspended seven builders in the interests of the public, after they were convicted of indictable offences involving dishonesty.
The suspensions of the following Domestic Builder registrations are now in effect, pending separate show cause processes:

• Akshay Thakur
• Balihar Singh
• Faris Yousif
• Inderjit Singh
• Rinku Maggon
• Selim Ozgan
• Tajit Singh Arora

The convictions were brought by the Independent Broad-Based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC) as a result of Operation Perseus, its investigation into corrupt conduct at the former Victorian Building Authority (VBA). The VBA referred the matter to IBAC.
