Deakin Univ’s Rs. 30 million(3 crore)scholarships for Indian students

MELBOURNE/NEW DELHI, 25 April 2022: There is good news for Indian students planning to study in Australia. Australia’s Deakin University has announced INR 30 million (Rs.3 crore) worth of scholarships for Indian students this year. Called the ‘Partnering With India – Vice Chancellor’s Meritorious 100 % Scholarships 2022 – For Indian Students,’ applications are now open and go on till Sunday 15 May 2022.

Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship program 2022 offers a 100% tuition fee waiver to four high-achieving Indian students for the full duration of their studies at the university. The Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship Program is a part of an initiative of Deakin named ‘Changing Lives’ and recognises students with consistently high academic performance with the potential to make a leading contribution to the university and their community back in India. Successful students will be required to participate in the Vice-Chancellor’s Professional Excellence Program, a personal and professional development program. Applications for the scholarship are open for students applying for the July intake this year.

The selection for the Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship Program is a rigorous process consisting of application review, referee recommendations and interviews/presentations including a panel interview with representatives from the academia and the industry. Deakin also offers other academic performance-based bursaries and scholarships for Indian students that include a 25% Merit Scholarship and a 20% Bursary for studies onshore in Australia. In total there are four scholarships.

Eligibility

Scholarships are open to all students residing in India who meet the minimum eligibility requirements. All previous qualifications must be successfully completed within the stipulated duration with no backlogs.

For Undergraduate studies – 85% and above or equivalent in the 12th Indian Board Examinations / IB / GCSE. Students appearing for Year 12 can share their predicted scores while applying – final selection will be based on actual marks and significant achievements in co-curricular activities.

For Postgraduate studies – 80% and above or equivalent in undergraduate degree. Students applying for a post graduate degree can share the scores of their second last semester of their final year – final selection will be based on actual marks and significant achievements in co-curricular activities.

Other Requirements – Minimum English language capability as required by Deakin University. A demonstration of commitment to give back to the community.
