MELBOURNE: An Indian-Australian family in Melbourne’s west has been left stunned after five mature pine trees were reportedly uprooted and stolen from outside their home in Deanside, Victoria, in a brazen early-morning theft (2 August, 2026) captured on CCTV. An online police report has been filed.
The incident occurred about 6.30am, when a man driving a white car allegedly stopped outside the property, removed the trees within minutes and drove away.
Homeowner Ravi Sharma talking to South Asia Times (SAT) said the theft was captured on the family’s security camera, but the vehicle’s registration plate was not visible. Ravi described the incident as a worrying sign that even landscaping is no longer safe from theft.
