In a Tweet today she says, ” Enroute to Brisbane on a 3 day visit to represent the Kejriwal model of governance at the Cities Summit and Mayor’s Forum from 11th to 13th October. Hoping to share take-aways from our best practices and get inspired from experiences in countries.”

Talking to South Asia Times (SAT), Rakesh Prajapati, AAP Australia welcoming the visit said, ” Dr. Shelly’s visit to Australia is significant because she will put before the world community successful socio-economic steps taken by the AAP Government in Delhi, to enhance the development and social agenda envisaged by the Kejriwal model which has taken deep roots in India’s capital.”

Earlier, lawbeat.in reported, “Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi’s counsel on Wednesday (4 October, 2023)  informed the Delhi High Court that she has been granted political clearance by the Centre to travel to Brisbane, Australia for the ‘Asia Pacific Cities Summit 2023’.

Advocate Gautam Narayan on behalf of Oberoi apprised the court, “We got the clearance yesterday after the petition was filed. I mentioned the matter at 12 am yesterday. Thereafter, I was given clearance.

The counsel for Oberoi had submitted that she was not being given political clearance to attend an event in the Australian city. “Only three working days remain. She has to go on the 9th October,” the counsel had told.”

The Delhi Mayor had sought permission to participate in the ‘Asia Pacific Cities Summit 2023’ in Brisbane, Australia. The summit is to be held between October 11 to 13, 2023. The plea stated that Oberoi had not been given permission by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).”

“The Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) and Mayors’ Forum is the region’s premier Summit that brings together one of the largest number of city leaders with the best and brightest in business. Today, cities are increasingly recognised as key influencers, connectors and contributors to the global economy and the Summit is the platform for connection and knowledge exchange.

APCS is focused on bringing business, industry and cities together to enable them to build relationships and effectively contribute to the success and sustainability of our cities into the future. APCS attracts city leaders and key influencers looking to engage with companies who can provide innovative urban solutions to cities,” says the 2023 Asia Pacific Cities Summit & Mayor’s Forum website.
