Dr.Jaishankar to meet Jacinda Ardern & Penny Wong during NZ-Aust.visit

MELBOURNE, October 03, 2022: India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, will be visiting New Zealand and Australia from 5-11 October 2022. This will be The Minister’s first visit to New Zealand. In Australia, the Minister will be at the 13th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue (FMFD) with Australia Foreign Minister Penny Wong.

In Auckland, Dr. S. Jaishankar will participate in an event on 6 October along with Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, to felicitate members of the Indian community in New Zealand. Both leaders will release India@75 postage stamps to commemorate and showcase Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsavin New Zealand. EAM will launch the book ‘Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery’. A book showcasing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special bond with the Sikh community ‘Heartfelt – The Legacy of Faith’ will also be released.

The Indian Foreign Minister will have a bilateral meeting with Nanaia Mahuta, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand in Auckland to discuss and review the entire gamut of relations between the two countries. He will also interact with several Ministers, including Priyanka Radhakrishnan, Minister for the Community & Voluntary Sector, Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, and Youth, who is the first person of Indian origin to become a Minister in New Zealand, Parliamentarians, members of the business community as well as Indian diaspora, including Indian students. In Wellington, he will inaugurate the newly constructed building of the High Commission of India.

In Australia, the Minister will visit Canberra and Sydney. It will be his second visit to Australia this year, the first was in February 2022 to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Melbourne. Apart from attending the FMFD with Penny Wong, meetings with the Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, Richard Marles are also planned. He will also have interactions with the Australian Navy, the media in Canberra on 10th October, and think tanks, including the Lowy Institute in Sydney.
