Victoria Premier condemns hate as Neo-Nazi intrudes media conference

MELBOURNE, 2 September, 2025: Victoria’s Premier Jacinta Allan has hit back at neo-nazis who gatecrashed her media conference at the Edes park today, saying there is no place for hate in Victoria. Police have arrested Neo-Nazi Thomas Swell and another associate with him outside the Melbourne Magistrates Court, over an alleged attack on Camp Sovereignty, a sacred Aboriginal burial ground in Kings Domain on 31 August, 2025.

Before the arrest Thomas Swell and arrested, he confronted the Premier at the press conference and was separated from the Premier. The conference, says The Guardian, was abandoned and the Premier, Treasurer and Upper House MP Sheena Watt left the place.

Later in a statement the Premier said, ” I am unharmed and undeterred following this morning’s event’s at a press conference. It comes as no surprise that Nazis oppose me and my Government.”

“There is no place for hate in our state. Whoever you are, whoever you love, whoever you pray to – I’ll always fight for your right to belong. (See full statement and video)

Swell had addressed the anti-immigration ‘March for Australia’ on 31 August, 2-25. where thousands marched against immigration. Similar marches also took place in other Australian cities.

The anti-immigration rally is Melbourne was opposed by a counter rally. The escalation and the neo-nazi and far right support for the anti-immigration rallies has raised concerns at rising hate speech and the undermining of multiculturalism.

” We know how these goons operate. They whip up fear and divide our society. They will fall,” the Premier said in her statement.
