MHFA announces National Multicultural Mental Health Month 2024

 

The Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA) has announced the National Multicultural Mental Health Month 2024, set to run from 1st October to 31st October. This month-long campaign will celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Australia while promoting mental health awareness and support within multicultural communities.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating Diversity, Healing Together,” reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive society where every individual, regardless of their cultural background, can access the mental health resources they need. The theme highlights the strength and resilience found in our diverse communities and the importance of coming together to support each other.

Throughout October, MHFA will host a variety of events and activities designed to engage, educate, and empower our multicultural communities:

  • Interactive discussions with mental health professionals and community leaders.
  • Educational and informative sessions on various mental health topics and coping strategies.
  • Safe spaces for sharing experiences and finding peer support.
  • Events that showcase the traditions and contributions of various cultural groups.
  • Social media

The theme showcases our continued shared commitment to fostering a society where every individual feels seen, heard and supported, regardless of cultural background, ” Prof. Peter Barlis, Chairperson – Mental Health Foundation Australia.
