MELBOURNE, 22 January, 2026: A multi-faith vigil to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Bondi Beach terror attack in which 15 people were killed was held today morning at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral.

Victoria’s Premier Jacinta Allan, Governor prof Margaret-Gardner, Leader of Opposition Davis Southwick, attended among political and multi-faith leaders from across Victoria including from the Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh communities.

Similar vigils were held across Australia, with PM Anthony Albanese marked the Light Will Win vigil honouring victims of the Bondi terror attack with an apology to Jewish Australians, reports Sky News.

The vigils reflected an opportunity to pause, to remember, and light a candle in honour of those who lost their lives – and to encourage peace, and an end to hatred. Flags flew at half mast and a minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect.

Premier Jacinta Allan in her address said, ” In our grief, in our heart, and our loss: In shared solace, and with peace that we can give.

Following the church service, the congregation lighted their own candles from the candles lit by the Governor and Premier.
