MELBOURNE, 14 December 2023: The Australia India Institute (AII), University of Melbourne, setup 15 years back, now has a new office. The AII’s new abode at Swanston Street replaces the one at Barry Street. The shifting took place a few months back and the process is on. The premier think tank has been playing a pivotal role in the booming Australia-India relations. The AII is now in the heart of the Central Business District, making it more accessible.
On a hot day, prominent intellectuals, diplomats, academics and supporters assembled to celebrate the new office and celebrate the year end. AII CEO, Lisa Singh addressing those gathered detailed the busy schedule the institute had during 2023. The institutes Leadership Dialogue, workshops, seminars, research and publications, she said, gave inputs to the federal and state governments and corporate entities. The celebration of India’s 75th Independence Day was a feather in the cap, she said.
Prof. Michael, Wesley, Dy. Vice Chancellor Global, Culture and Engagement, University of Melbourne addressing the gathering expressed his happiness at the AII’s crucial role in enhancing relations between India and Australia. The decision to have Lisa Singh as the CEO, was the best decision, he said.
