Melbourne, Australia – Extinction Rebellion, has planned a big climate action in the central business district, from May 25 to 27, 2023 to highlight the climate crisis. About a thousand people are expected to participate in this action and volunteers are being registered. To highlight this event today (April 21, 2023), XR activists set up camp in the lobby of the Exxon Headquarters in Melbourne to draw attention to this upcoming event, Occupy for Climate.

The activists set up tents in the lobby of Exxon Headquarters, one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies, to protest the company’s contribution to the climate crisis. The activists hope to highlight the urgent need for action to address climate change and the role that corporations like Exxon play in perpetuating the crisis.

“We cannot sit idly by while corporations like Exxon continue to prioritise profits over the health of our planet and our communities,” said XR spokesperson, Catherine Strong. “We need to take bold action to address the climate crisis, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with Occupy for Climate.”
