Philip Green Australia’s next ambassador to India

MELBOURNE, 23 March 2023: Philip Green, Australia’s current ambassador to Germany, will take over as the next ambassador to India after Barry O’Farrell finishes his term in April 2023. This has been reported in the Australian Financial Review (AFR). Mr. Green has previously served overseas as Head of Mission in Singapore, South Africa and Kenya. Mr Green holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney.

Mr. Green’s new position is important as Australia has been warming up its relations with India and these were further consolidated with the signing of the free trade agreement and Prime Minister’s Albanese’s recent visit to India.

The new appointment in India is yet to be confirmed by the Department of Foreign Trade and Affairs (DFAT).
