In this heartfelt documentary of the Mental Health Foundation Australia – ‘Stand with us’, one is taken behind the scenes of Australia’s oldest community-based mental health organisation, the Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA).
Established in the 1930s, the MHFA has been at the forefront of mental health advocacy, education, and support for nearly a century. With a small but dedicated team, the MHFA provides life-changing services to thousands of people each year, from $20 psychological counselling to community support groups. Yet, despite our profound impact, we face the ongoing challenge of minimal funding and limited resources.
This documentary sheds light on the work being done by the MHFA to break the stigma around mental health in Australia. Hear from our board, staff, volunteers, and community members as they share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs. Learn how we have adapted in times of crisis, including our digital transformation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how we continue to strive for better mental health for all. This is our true story—our mission, our challenges, and our passion for supporting mental health in multicultural Australia.
