Taking climate change issues to the community

MELBOURNE, 1 March, 2025 : Climate change issues are of great import to Australia and the world amid the crisis getting worse and the rush for renewals getting faster. Communities need the right information to take action to deal with such issues.

This and related topics came into focus at a Multicultural Community Forum organised by the Punjabis for Climate, Asian Australians for Climate Solutions and Australian Multicultural Organisations Network (AMON) at the Glen Waverley Community Centre. The stakes were high and confidence at its prime.

The speakers spoke on environment and health, air pollution, solutions and SEC information about its schemes.

Dr. Christopher Leung, a clinician-educator-researcher-advocator, university of Melbourne gave an informative presentation with slides that spoke about how climate change affects one’s health. This, he said, was essential to understand to have a sustainable economy and people facing environmental degradation.

Mr,. Manoj Kumar, Director & Business Consultant at Clean Technology Equipments Pty. Ltd, explained how various micro particles polluting the air harm human life. Even within the home, he said, air pollution is a big health hazard.

Mr. Rob Koh, Morgan Stanley, covering Australia Energy, Utilities, Infrastructure, and Sustainability (ESG) gave comprehensive details of the situation in Australia and how to cut costs of energy usage by using smart energy strategies.

A representative of the SEC explained the various schemes/subsidies available for Victorians to reach the goal of a sustainable state. A pamphlet distributed described SEC piloting a new digital planner that simplifies the process of cutting energy bills and emissions. This includes heating & cooling, fridge, washer etc., lights, cooking, TV and computers and hot water.

Doctors for the Environment Australia called upon people to vote 1 for candidates who Put Our Health First.

The event’s message was to plug climate change for Victoria, Australia and the world. All this for a Healthy Planet.
