MELBOURNE, 4 November: With three weeks left, campaigning for the Victoria election 2022 is catching up. Pre-polling is from Monday 14 November to Friday 25 November on selected booths and the final on Sunday 26 November. The major political parties are up with far-reaching transport and health promises amid campaign launches and bar be cues.

Today the Thornbury Theatre saw Bill Shorten, Federal Minister for Disability Insurance Scheme, Government Services, and Member for Maribyrnong praising the Daniel Andrews government for work during the pandemic, though he took a swipe as to why Luke Donnellan, sitting Narre Warren MP is not a candidate in this election.  He said, “He is not the candidate for Narre Warren for some ridiculous reason.”

This was an election event of true believers of Victoria’s Labor’s Right faction minus all those who are no more in the party. Still, his focus on the Daniel Andrews government handling during the pandemic’s ‘extraordinary times’ with “A strong record of getting things done” spoke for itself.

Others who spoke at the event included Jackson Taylor, MP Bayswater, Katie Hall, MP Footscray, Tim Richardson, MP Mordialloc, and Natalie Hutchins, MP Sydenham. The enthusiasm was visible as speakers spoke in the election mode.

Victorian Education Minister Natalie Hutchins spoke about the need for different communities to be represented in the Parliament. The Parliament should look like the community looks, she said. She said we worked for diversity and gender equality, but it is essential we press for multicultural communities to get representation in elected bodies.

Bill Shorten’s speech had set the tone and Katie Hall detailed the emergence of minor parties in Footscray, the safe Labor seat. Bill Shorten said, ” Footscray is lucky to have her”, which was the icing on the cake.
