Melbourne: Bollywood film star and producer, Aamir Khan, today said he was not a social activist. Aamir was addressing and later answering to media queries about his new film production ‘Peepli Live’, which is being premiered here tonight at the Melbourne International Film festival (MIFF).

Answering a pointed question from South Asia Times, Aamir Khan said ‘Peepli Live’ was not a movie on India’s farmer’s suicides but the issue was in the movie’s backdrop.

“The issue of farmer’s suicide has been noticed by the government, Planning Commission and journalists and they are coming up with solutions. It is not an easy issue,” he said.

To another question, Aamir ruled out joining politics and said he was happy as an entertainer.
