AMON Business Council launched

MELBOURNE, 10 MARCH, 2025: New business body, ‘AMON Business Council’ was today launched at a simple gathering of concerned business people and community influencers, at the Aura Curry House Cafe, Dandenong.

The new body aims to create collaboration or connect migrant businesses and community groups with government at all levels.

The gathering was attended by many migrant business owners and prominent leaders from different communities. In his address to those present, Dandenong Mayor, Cr Jim Memeti, welcomed the setting up of the ‘AMON Business Council’, describing how Dandenong is a hub of multicultural businesses. Jim, who is himself a migrant, was enthusiastic about the new organisation and wished it all the success.

The gathering was also addressed by senior corporate lawyer John Perera, Manoj Kumar, AMON Chairperson, Dr. Raju Adhikari, President AMON, who detailed the aims and objectives of the new organisation and how it will help connect migrant organisations and migrants who wish to pursue business opportunities in Victoria.

Pooja Singh, Secretary AMON, coordinated the program as MC.

AMON Business Council, President, Rahul Singh, said the free trade agreements between Australia and other countries can help migrants use their connections to enhance business opportunities and AMON Business Council will help have sustainability solutions for many issues faced.

This, he said, will bring communities closer to back the economy creating jobs.

Later many business people and professionals attending the launch spoke about their experiences and professional expertise they could use to connect with communities. Many views emerged and the consensus was to stand up and help in the growth of businesses to expand and consolidate. The challenges of starting and then running a small business in Australia, it was felt, could be met with an united effort.

The AMON Business Council President is Rahul Singh, Nitesh Passi Vice-President, Maryam Mohammadi is the Secretary, and  Muktar Hossain, the Treasurer. The next steps for the organisation including having an overseas  presence are being planned and are likely to be announced soon.
