‘Vibrant Gujarat 2024’ roadshow in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, 2 November 2023: The ‘Vibrant Gujarat 2024’, which is to be held from 10 to 12 January, 2024 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, will be the 10th edition of the global summit. The summit which is likely to showcase business opportunities for investors and the infrastructure available for global business people.

The roadshow here today at the Park Hyatt, Melbourne was led by a delegation by Dr. Anju Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Gujarat and had prominent business people in it. Sponsored by the ASSOCHAM, FICCI and CII, the roadshow saw presentations, power point presentations, a documentary and  speeches which invited business people from Australia to come for the summit, apart from showcasing the business opportunities in Gujarat.

Dr. Sushil Kumar, India’s Consul General, Melbourne in his keynote remarks lauded the bi-partisan support for Australia-India relations and said 15 Ministers from India and 10 Ministers from Australia had visited each others countries enhancing the relations. Victoria, he said, had the largest number of Indian international students., which reflects the strong bonds between the two countries.

Dr. Anju Sharma in her address said, ” For growth we have to take everybody together.” She detailed the economic indicators of India and Gujarat and Gujarat’s investment ecosystem for the industry among other infrastructure pointers.

Answering to a question by South Asia Times (SAT) on the viability of foreign campuses in Gujarat, when many students want to permanently settle in Australia, Dr Anju Sharma said, the aim was to provide cheaper  Australian standard education in Gujarat to students, without going to Australia.

Australia’s Deakin University and Wollongong University are to open their foreign campuses in Gujarat in July 2024.

The presentation on the renewable energy sector by Mr. Dhruv Luthra, Luthra Group, the presentation on the Education sector by Dr. Rajul Gujjar, VC, GTU, and the presentation on the IT/ITe sector were informative and invited investors to visit the summit to get a feel of them.

Among others who addressed the gathering were Mr. Tully Smith, AICC, Mr. Martin Artenstein, Australia India Chamber of Commerce (AICC) and Mr. Andrew Porter, Director, Consel House. The event concluded with a lively interaction with Q-A and networking.
