Alex Hawke visits Sri Shiva Vishnu Temple

MELBOURNE, 16 March 2022: Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, Alex Hawke, visited the Sri Shiva Vishnu temple in Carrum Downs today early morning. The temple committee members and Mr. Srinivasan, a recently appointed member of the Australian Multicultural Council were present among others. Two federal candidates of the Liberal Party also accompanied him.

He was welcomed with garlands and traditional music and taken around the temple premises apart from having the ‘darshan’ of Hindu deities and welcome from temple priests. He also posed for photographs with the temple committee members in front of the temple.

Later the Minister was taken to the cultural center where the Committee President welcomed him apart from describing the activities of the temple. Later addressing those present, Mr. Hawke, expressed his happiness at being at the temple and explained the policies of the federal government. He explained in detail the proposed law against religious discrimination which gives powers to faith organizations.

Talking to SAT & others, Mr. Hawke, expressed his happiness for being at the temple and wished the community for the upcoming Holi festival.
