Rally urges end to attacks on Hindus & other minorities in Bangladesh

MELBOURNE, 1 December, 2024: Many from the Bangladeshi communities and others today held a rally at the Federation Square, protesting against attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, including the arrest of ISKON priest Chinmoy Prabhu, who has been charged under sedition laws.

The rally was organised by the Australian Federation for Ethnic and Religious Minorities in Bangladesh (AFERMB), claiming to be representing 25 other organisations. The protesters gathered at the Federation Square with banners and posters on the issue. They urged Australians and the global community to hold Bangladesh’s current interim Government led by Md. Yunus accountable and the ending of violence.

They urged the Bangladesh authorities to ensure the safety of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh and the immediate release of arrested ISKON priest Chinmoy Prabhu.

Some of the banners visible at the rally said, Save the minorities in Bangladesh, Stop Atrocities Against Hindus in Bangladesh, All eyes on Bangladesh, Stop violence against Hindus, among others.
