MELBOURNE, 9 July 2022: Community members today met the newly elected Federal Labor MP from Chisholm Carina Garland at her Burwood office. The newly elected Carina Garland welcomed community members who represented different organizations. There were many issues discussed and the MP listened to everyone with patience.

Shashi Kochhar – President- Friends of Children foundation Victoria
Anterpreet Singh Arneja – President- Blackburn Sikh Temple, Blackburn, engineer and business owner of fiber optical technologies.
Anjan Kumar – Local business owner in Chisholm.
Shahbaz Chowdhry – Ex-President- Australian Pakistani doctors association and South Asian Public Affairs council Australia.
Niraj Das – President BJSM (Bihar Jharkhand Sabha Melbourne) and MD of OJAS group of companies.
Sidarth Maitrak – Vera Lawyers and from the Gujarati Community
Anand Shome – Chairman- IndianCare Victoria
Saleha Singh – President of IndianCare Victoria
Manoj Kumar- former state and federal candidate from Forest Hill and Menzies.
Liz De La Motte – Electorate Officer of Hon.Carina Garland MP
Carina Garland MP – Federal member of Chisholm and the host.
The participants introduced their organizations and the issues faced by them including the need for more funding. The need for more health professionals including doctors and nurses was needed, it was felt. The issue of long waiting hours at medical clinics also came up. The attendees requested the MP to raise these issues at her level for possible solutions. Carina was satisfied with the community interaction and assured her full support for the issues.
The interaction between the community and the MP was organized by Manoj Kumar, ALP and former candidate for Menzies (Federal) and Forest Hill (state) elections.
