Indian High Commissioner Manpreet Vohra visits Ayush Information Centre, Melbourne

MELBOURNE, 8 December 2021: Indian High Commissioner HE Mr. Manpreet Vohra today visited the Ayush Information Centre & Ayurveda Yoga Wellness Centre in Dendenong. Run By Dr. Santosh Yadav, the centre was inagurated on 13 February 2019 by the then Indian High Commissioner HE Dr. A. M. Gondane.

Mr Vohra and his wife were taken around the complex and shown the facilities and the information centre. A large number Ayurveda doctors assembled to meet the High Commissioner.

Later talking to the Ayurveda doctors Mr. Vohra discussed the issue of the recognition Ayurvedic system and medicines in Australia, just like Chinese medicine. At present Ayurvedic patients are not covered by Australia’s medicare system. Mr. Yadav explained him the current situation and other doctors pressed for the urgent recognition of the Ayurvedic system here.

Explaining the issue, Mr Vohra, said the issue of heavy metals in the Ayur system needs to be addressed. It was revealed this very issue was a big hurdle in the recognition process. Mr Vohra wanted the Ayur doctors to do their homework well and in detail to address any such concern, as the High Commission was seized of the matter.
